Detroit on the Rise: Tayion Collection Takes Detroit Tailoring Across North America

Detroit’s own Tayion Collection is taking its tailoring across North America. The Detroit-based menswear label, founded in 2003 by designer Montee Tayion Holland, has spent more than two decades building its name on contemporary tailoring and a distinct approach to men’s personal style — getting dressed as an expression of confidence and individuality, not just following the traditional rules of menswear.

Now the brand is scaling up in a big way. Tayion Collection has announced a renewed three-year licensing agreement with Peerless Clothing, expanding a partnership that began in 2021. Beginning January 1, 2027, Peerless will manufacture and distribute Tayion’s tailored apparel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The expanded assortment will include suits, suit separates, sport coats, vests, dress pants, tuxedos, overcoats, and raincoats, with distribution planned through major department stores and specialty retailers. The deal runs three years with an option to renew for an additional three, and it also opens the door for Tayion to explore additional categories like sportswear and neckwear.

Holland put it plainly: ‘This partnership represents an important next chapter for Tayion Collection. Peerless has an exceptional understanding of tailored clothing and the retail landscape, and this agreement allows us to bring the Tayion aesthetic to an even broader audience.’ For an independently founded Black menswear label out of Detroit, that’s not just more stores — that’s ownership, infrastructure, and room to grow.
