Detroit got its first one. Daryl Watts is PWHL Detroit’s first signing, and she didn’t come quiet — she made history as the first player in PWHL history to sign a four-year contract.
Watts is 27, and she came over from the Toronto Sceptres. She ranks second all-time in league goals with 32 and is tied for third in points with 63. She was the second player in league history to reach 50 career points, doing it against the Minnesota Frost in 2025.
That’s the kind of player you build a first season around. PWHL Detroit is one of the league’s new expansion teams, debuting at Little Caesars Arena this fall, and Watts is on its 28-player training camp roster. Camp opens November 18 at Belfor Training Center.
Detroit women’s hockey is here, and it’s starting with a scorer. This city knows how to show up for its own — now it’s time to show up for her too.
Pull up: PWHL Detroit home opener vs. the New York Sirens — Saturday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. ET, Little Caesars Arena.
