Gideon Gash Commits to Texas Tech — No. 2 Recruit in Michigan

Another Detroit baller is headed for the big stage. Gideon Gash, a senior defensive back at Novi Detroit Catholic Central, verbally committed to Texas Tech football on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Ranked the No. 2 player in Michigan and No. 70 nationally in the 2027 class by the 247Sports composite, Gash is a Division 1 All-State standout for the defending Division 1 champions. He picked the Red Raiders over Michigan State, LSU, Oklahoma and Alabama — and per his dad, this decision was not about NIL money. A big factor was Texas Tech cornerbacks coach Darcel McBath, a former second-round NFL draft pick who knows the road to the league. Football runs deep in this family: his dad is Sam Gash, a former NFL player and ex-Detroit Lions assistant coach, and his older brothers play at Michigan State — Samson Gash, a freshman receiver, and Caleb Gash, a redshirt junior safety. Gideon says his brothers were recruiting him hard to East Lansing, but told him “if it’s not the right place for you, walk your own race.” He walked his own race.At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Gash has only been playing cornerback for two years — and he’s already one of the best in the country. He’s a true Detroit athlete, too: in the MHSAA Division 1 state championship win over Detroit Cass Tech, he caught 3 passes for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns as a receiver. He was an All-Catholic forward in basketball, finished third in the D-1 state long jump at 23 feet, 5 inches, and helped the Shamrocks on their lacrosse state championship run. Detroit on the rise, on every field.Read the full story: https://www.freep.com/story/sports/high-school/2026/06/08/gideon-gash-texas-tech-recruiting-michigan-state-football-recruiting/90457011007/Tap in. — LORDZ
